NM Catch Can MINI Cooper N14 NM Boost Gauge Tap Adapter

NM Engineering Oil Catch Can for the MINI Cooper S | N14 Engine

The NM Engineering Catch Can for the MINI Cooper S N14 engine is machined from billet 6061 aluminum alloy and anodized for stealth looks and added surface durability. The NM tank catches the oil and moisture in the blow-by gas that can cause carbon and sludge build-up in the turbo, intake system and the engine. Every piece of the kit can be disassembled for thorough cleaning and servicing. The NM Engineering Catch Tank kit also features the Patent Pending Locking Clip system for securing the billet adapters to the OEM plastic fittings. This allows the installer to simply slip the adapter onto the OE fitting and the clip will snap in place keeping the adapter from backing out. The kit includes a block-off plug for the rear PCV port.

Fact:

MOST MINI Cooper Service Departments charge 5-6 hours labor ($600-700) to clean your N18 intake ports from carbon build-up caused by the oil and moisture circulating back into the engine internals. This procedure is 'recommended' around 60-70,000 miles, after your warranty has long expired.....but the effects of carbon build up can begin to develop as early as 20,000 miles.

NM Engineering Boost Gauge Adapter for the MINI Cooper S | MINI JCW

We're not sure why MINI would not have a boost gauge to monitor boost levels in their S and JCW models, but NM engineering now has a solution to this dilemma. The OEM intake manifold on the MINI N14 engine does not have a port to easily get a boost or vacuum reading and as such would require drilling and tapping a hole in the intake manifold. NM Engineering's Boost Sensor Tap installs under the OEM MAP sensor. You simply remove the OEM map sensor from the intake manifold, install our Boost Sensor Tap in its place and re-install your map sensor onto our precision CNC machined 6061-T6 adapter.

NM Engineering Short Shift Adapter Cover | MINI Cooper S

A short shift kit is one of the "must haves" in improving your MINI motoring experience. Unfortunately, the short shift kit upgrades do not allow anyone to retain the OEM assembly box cover due to the extended ball linkage sitting below the cover line. Most people leave the cover off completely and some make a cut out just big enough so the linkage can move freely. Either way, the mechanics inside the assembly box are exposed to outside elements which can cause dirt and dust buildup as well as increased interior air and sound pollution. NM's solution to the problem was to modify the OEM ABS plastic cover and add a powder-coated aluminum box over it to cover the cut out thus sealing the entire inside of the assembly box.

OBDII gauge systems such as ScanGauge, P3 and PLX devices allow you to display sensor readings that the ECU receives, including boost. Generally, such readings are slightly off in timing and accuracy; even furthermore if you have a piggy-back power module system such as Burger Tuning's JB+. This type of upgrade alters the signal that the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor produces to induce ECU adaptation for more power increase. This system works but at the same time it skews the OBDII boost display.

So how do you obtain a reliable boost reading? NM has the solution...
