At NM Engineering our sole goal is to improve the driver's motoring experience without changing the essence of what makes MINI a MINI. Every NM Engineering part is designed and engineered in California with manufacturing done between California, Germany, UK and Japan. NM Engineering is a division of Automotive Performance Systems, Inc. APS is a family owned and operated company which has been in the business of engineering and manufacturing high performance components for the automotive aftermarket for close to 4 decades.

APS' early roots can be traced back to being one of the earliest BMW tuners. Back in 1979, APS built parts for its first project car, a BMW 320i, which included springs, sway bars and upper front tie-bar as well as a Callaway turbo kit. APS and its NM Engineering division have simple philosophies; Make parts with jewel-like finish that fit and performs like no other. Make the parts so easy to install that any 'shade tree' mechanic with good tools could perform the installation. And finally, deliver the best possible service with honesty and integrity.

NM Engineering Adjustable Front Sway Bar End Links for the MINI Cooper | MINI Cooper S | MINI JCW

Because this is a high-stress part, 7075 was chosen because it has the same tensile strength as steel, yet is much lighter. Just to compare, 7075-T6 has almost twice the tensile strength compared to 6061-T6.

Another benefit afforded by 7075-T6 is it allowed NM Engineering to machine or turn-down the centers of the links to save weight and stay clear of the brake lines and brake pad sensor wires. To give you an idea how thin the link is, the centers of the NM links are thinner than a standard AA battery.

NM Engineering sway bar links also utilize precision CNC machined stainless steel ball-joint spacers as stainless steel is stronger and more durable than 6061 aluminum alloy. To maximize adjustability, NM chose a special thin jam nut which allows an additional 1/4" of adjustment compared to others being sold in the market.

The length of front and rear links are compensated for lowered vehicles so the sway bar arms will sit in a neutral position relative to the swing arm. The length of the rear links are 25mm shorter and the fronts are 12mm longer compared to OEM links. This is also the solution for enthusiasts out there with coil-over suspension that lower the ride height more than 1.5". A quick note on the materials we use, whether it is 6061-T6 or 7075-T6, all grade materials we purchase are certified, we will NEVER buy uncertified scrap or overrun materials from metal/alloy vendors.

NM Engineering Front Sway Bar Links will not yield like their OEM counterparts ensuring that all suspension movements are transmitted to the sway bar for maximum performance. Now available from NM Engineering, the Adjustable Rear Sway Bar Links for the MINI F55 / F56. Everything starts with the material, after all it is the foundation of this custom performance part. NM Engineering did not skimp here as these links are precision CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum in California. Because this is a high-stress part, 7075 was chosen because it has the same tensile strength as steel, yet is much lighter. Just to compare, 7075-T6 has almost twice the tensile strength compared to 6061-T6.

As you can see from one of the images, MINI cut costs by equipping the new F55 / F56 with links made from plastic. Although it may be sufficient for the factory 17-18mm hollow sway bar it will not perform optimally when paired with our larger 22mm Solid Anti Sway Bar. The NM Engineering "ALL METAL" Sway Bar Links are far superior to OEM by providing the following benefits:

NM Engineering Aluminum Rear Control Arm Kit

Introducing the newly redesigned NM Engineering Control Arm kit. While others use 1" diameter 6061 aluminum material, NM machines our control arms utilizing aerospace grade 7075-T6 1 1/4" hex aluminum bars. The use of larger material provides rigidity and strength of steel bar but without the weight and lack of oxidation resistance. NM Control Arm Kit also features precision heavy duty rod ends made from heat treated hardened steel with self lubricating nylon race. The threaded rod ends allow user to dial the suspension camber to desired specs, crucial for the weekend track enthusiasts and professional racers. T-303 stainless steel is used for the spacers to avoid any flexing and crushing caused by suspension load.

The optional rubber boot protects rod end against dirt and grime that may cause performance noise.

Notes:

Kit comes with two (pair) complete bars with hardwares, set at factory arm length.

Buy two kits for complete top and bottom arms replacement.

Vehicle with HID (Xenon) headlights can only install/replace lower control arms.

NM Boost Gauge Tap Adapter | F56 NM Boost Gauge Tap Adapter

NM Engineering Boost Gauge Adapter for the MINI Cooper S | F56

OBDII gauge systems such as ScanGauge, P3 and PLX devices allow you to display sensor readings that the ECU receives, including boost. Generally, such readings are slightly off in timing and accuracy; even furthermore if you have a piggy-back power module system such as Burger Tuning's JB+. This type of upgrade alters the signal that the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor produces to induce ECU adaptation for more power increase. This system works but at the same time it skews the OBDII boost display.

So how do you obtain a reliable boost reading? NM has the solution...

The NM Engineering Boost Tap plugs directly into the intake manifold where the factory Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is located. Installing this adapter is an easy, reliable and the most accurate way to tap into the 2.0T and 1.5T engine (S and non-S) boost source for installing your boost gauge or aftermarket diverter valve.

NM Engineering Boost Gauge Adapter for the MINI Cooper S | MINI JCW

We're not sure why MINI would not have a boost gauge to monitor boost levels in their S and JCW models, but NM engineering now has a solution to this dilemma. The OEM intake manifold on the MINI N14 engine does not have a port to easily get a boost or vacuum reading and as such would require drilling and tapping a hole in the intake manifold. NM Engineering's Boost Sensor Tap installs under the OEM MAP sensor. You simply remove the OEM map sensor from the intake manifold, install our Boost Sensor Tap in its place and re-install your map sensor onto our precision CNC machined 6061-T6 adapter.

NM Engineering Oil Catch Can for the MINI Cooper S | N14 Engine

The NM Engineering Catch Can for the MINI Cooper S N14 engine is machined from billet 6061 aluminum alloy and anodized for stealth looks and added surface durability. The NM tank catches the oil and moisture in the blow-by gas that can cause carbon and sludge build-up in the turbo, intake system and the engine. Every piece of the kit can be disassembled for thorough cleaning and servicing. The NM Engineering Catch Tank kit also features the Patent Pending Locking Clip system for securing the billet adapters to the OEM plastic fittings. This allows the installer to simply slip the adapter onto the OE fitting and the clip will snap in place keeping the adapter from backing out. The kit includes a block-off plug for the rear PCV port.

Fact:

MOST MINI Cooper Service Departments charge 5-6 hours labor ($600-700) to clean your N18 intake ports from carbon build-up caused by the oil and moisture circulating back into the engine internals. This procedure is 'recommended' around 60-70,000 miles, after your warranty has long expired.....but the effects of carbon build up can begin to develop as early as 20,000 miles.

The NM Engineering Catch Can kit also features custom tooled silicone hoses with a Fluorosilicone internal lining developed specifically for petroleum based applications. The lack of adapters in this kit ensures smooth, unrestricted and completely sealed vapor delivery throughout the system.The NM Engineering N18 Catch Can utilizes all the factory OEM hose connections and supplies the custom cut silicone hoses in this N18 Kit, this allows the installer to simply mount the tank and slip the silicone hoses over the OEM fittings.

The MINI Cooper S engine utilizes a turbocharger to pressurize the intake tract to force feed the engine air in order to produce power. As such, NM Engineering has identified a weak point that impairs the efficiency of this system. The NM Engineering Hi-Flow Charge Pipe replaces the factory necked-down hose between the intercooler and throttle body (cold-side) with a new pipe and silicone couplers that will not expand under boost. The system eliminates the OEM sound chamber which results in increased turbo response as well as mid-range and top-end power.

NM Engineering exhaust systems are constructed from 100% aerospace quality T304 stainless steel inside and out. Large diameter metric sized tubing and low restriction stainless steel mufflers are carefully designed to reduce weight and meet State noise restriction standards. Luster polished finish, CNC mandrel bends, TIG welds, precise fit flanges and mounting hangers are standard on every NM Engineering exhaust system. 15~18 HP gain realized on most installations. The MINI Cooper S engine utilizes a turbocharger to pressurize the intake tract to force feed the engine air to produce power. NM Engineering Intake System - Black Hardpipe for the MINI Cooper S | N14 Engine

NM Engineering introduces the complete intake system for the turbocharged model MINI Cooper S. Unlike some competitors, the NM intake features an integrated larger turbo inlet tube. The stainless steel brackets, hardware and silicone couplings were all designed, engineered and manufactured to fit and perform.

The Open air box system gives you an abundance of unrestricted 360 degrees of air source compared to the OEM sealed air box with flat filter and tube fed air source. During R&D, we installed temperature probes around the engine compartment and the gauge showed the inside temperature matched the ambient after the vehicle sped past 20 mph, logging the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor also showed that open-air-box intake generated higher volume (gr/sec) of air going through the sensor. So when we had to choose between cooler air at all speed with a limited air source vs. cooler air at 20~ mph with an unlimited air source, the choice was pretty obvious.

The blue and black tubes in the kit feature CNC mandrel bent aluminum pipe finished with durable textured powder coat. The other option is Carbon Fiber tubing which features 100% carbon fiber composite material shown to be lightweight and has a great appearance. Utilizing a vacuum bag manufacturing method produces a part that has consistent wall thickness while avoiding excessive resin build-up.

Also included pre-oiled and cleanable filter.

This kit fits MCS (US models 2007~2010) and JCW (US + worldwide 2009~2011) vehicles.

The NM Engineering intake system for the turbocharged MINI Cooper S and JCW with the N18 motor. The stainless steel brackets, hardware and silicone couplings were all designed, engineered and manufactured to fit and perform. NM Engineering Intake System for the MINI Cooper S | N14 and N18 Engine

MINI did a great job on the 2011+ model MCS in improving the turbo intake tube by replacing the soft rubber tubing with a full size and rigid ABS plastic one, similar to NM's aluminum/silicone version for the 2007~2010 MCS & JCW vehicles. So NM decided to leave the inlet tube out and this allows the price of the kit to be more economical. This kit will fit the 2011+ N18 engine as well as serving as an inexpensive solution for the 2007+ N14 engines.

NM Engineering Short Shift Adapter Cover | MINI Cooper S

A short shift kit is one of the "must haves" in improving your MINI motoring experience. Unfortunately, the short shift kit upgrades do not allow anyone to retain the OEM assembly box cover due to the extended ball linkage sitting below the cover line. Most people leave the cover off completely and some make a cut out just big enough so the linkage can move freely. Either way, the mechanics inside the assembly box are exposed to outside elements which can cause dirt and dust buildup as well as increased interior air and sound pollution. NM's solution to the problem was to modify the OEM ABS plastic cover and add a powder-coated aluminum box over it to cover the cut out thus sealing the entire inside of the assembly box.

NM SPEC-B Front Sway Bar Links NM Stainless Steel Brake Lines

NEW PRODUCT: NM Engineering SPEC-B Front Sway Bar End Links for the MINI Cooper | MINI Cooper S | MINI JCW

The NM Engineering SPEC-B front sway bar link kit is designed specifically to pair coilover systems that relocate the sway bar link arms to a lower position, such as: KW, JRZ, and other race-spec kits. The SPEC-B links are 1.5" shorter when compared to the stock OEM links.

Everything starts with the material, after all it is the foundation of this custom performance part. NM Engineering did not skimp here as these links are precision CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum in California. Because this is a high-stress part, 7075 was chosen because it has the same tensile strength as steel, yet is much lighter. Just to compare, 7075-T6 has almost twice the tensile strength compared to 6061-T6.

Another benefit afforded by 7075-T6 is it allowed NM Engineering to machine or turn-down the centers of the links to save weight and stay clear of the brake lines and brake pad sensor wires. To give you an idea how thin the link is, the centers of the NM links are thinner than a standard AA battery.

NM Engineering sway bar links also utilize precision CNC machined stainless steel ball-joint spacers as stainless steel is stronger and more durable than 6061 aluminum alloy. To maximize adjustability, NM chose a special thin jam nut which allows an additional 1/4" of adjustment compared to others being sold in the market.

The length of front and rear links are compensated for lowered vehicles so the sway bar arms will sit in a neutral position relative to the swing arm. The length of the rear links are 25mm shorter and the fronts are 12mm longer compared to OEM links. This is also the solution for enthusiasts out there with coil-over suspension that lower the ride height more than 1.5". A quick note on the materials we use, whether it is 6061-T6 or 7075-T6, all grade materials we purchase are certified, we will NEVER buy uncertified scrap or overrun materials from metal/alloy vendors.

NM Engineering Front Sway Bar Links will not yield like their OEM counterparts ensuring that all suspension movements are transmitted to the sway bar for maximum performance. This part is a must, especially on your lowered MINI Cooper equipped with NM sway bars. NM Engineering's new Front Adjustable Sway Bar Links provide these key benefits.

The 6061-T6 aluminum mounting pads will eliminate strut tower mushrooming by reinforcing the upper mount and is attached to mount studs with shouldered long-reach nuts to make sure that the bar and front suspension is secured by more than just a few threads. In addition, when you look at the underside of the pads, you will notice two machined pockets that accommodate the upper strut bearing locator pin on either side while concealing it from view. Finally, the simplest, yet most overlooked feature may be the twin mounting bolts on each side that attach the bar to the mounting pads. Most others use a single bolt to secure each side of the bar to the mounting pads. The problem with that is no matter how tight you cinch that bolt, the bar can still pivot at that point rendering them ineffective against chassis flex.
